Singapore Visa Requirements for Indians | Eligibility Guide

Singapore Visa Requirements for Indian Passport Holders

Most Indian passport holders can meet Singapore's visit-visa requirements without difficulty — the core expectations are a valid passport, a clear purpose of travel, and evidence you can support yourself during the trip. This page covers who generally qualifies and what's expected in broad terms; for the literal document list, see our documents checklist.

Who Needs to Meet These Requirements

Indian ordinary passport holders travelling to Singapore for leisure, to visit family or friends, or for a short-term business visit (meetings, conferences, exhibitions) generally need a visa before travel and need to satisfy the requirements below. This site does not assist with employment-related or immigration/residency categories — see our Tourist Visa and Business Visa pages for the two categories we help with.

Passport Validity

Your passport should have sufficient validity remaining beyond your intended stay, along with enough blank visa pages. Passports that are near expiry, damaged, or lacking blank pages are a common cause of delay — we check this as a first step before anything else.

Photograph

A recent photograph meeting the required specification is needed with every application. See our photo requirements guide before you get one taken, so you're not sent back to reshoot it.

Completed Application Form

The visa application form needs to be filled in accurately and consistently with your passport and supporting documents. Small inconsistencies — a name spelt differently, a date of birth that doesn't match — are a routine reason applications get queried, so we review this carefully before submission.

Purpose-of-Travel Documents

What you submit here depends on why you're travelling:

  • Tourist / social visit — a travel itinerary, accommodation details, or an invitation if you're visiting family or friends
  • Short-term business visit — a letter from the inviting Singapore company describing the purpose and duration of your visit

See our family trip guidance if you're travelling with relatives.

Proof of Funds

Evidence that you can support yourself for the duration of the trip is commonly expected — this can take a few different forms depending on your situation, and we advise on what works best for your specific case rather than prescribing one fixed document.

Meeting Requirements vs. Getting Approved

Meeting these requirements makes your application complete — it is not, on its own, a guarantee of approval. The final decision on every application rests with Singapore's Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA). What we can do is make sure nothing obviously incomplete or inconsistent goes forward. See our page on common rejection reasons for the issues careful preparation helps avoid.

Next Steps

Once you know you meet the general requirements, the next steps are gathering your documents and following our application process guide. Applications from India go through an authorised visa application channel rather than being filed directly with ICA.

Key Terms — Singapore Visa for Indians

Singapore Entry Visa

Pre-travel permission to enter Singapore. Indian passport holders generally need one before travel; it is applied for through an authorised visa application channel, not directly with ICA.

Visit Pass (e-Pass)

Granted digitally at the checkpoint when you arrive in Singapore — emailed, with no passport stamp (since 11 Mar 2022). This is different from the visa itself.

SG Arrival Card (SGAC)

A free, mandatory digital arrival and health declaration submitted online within 3 days before you arrive. It is not a visa and does not replace one.

Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA)

The Singapore government authority responsible for visa and entry decisions. Visa Expertz assists with preparation and submission only — final decisions rest with ICA.

Social Visit Pass

The official term for a tourist/social Singapore visit — covering leisure travel and visiting family or friends.

Short-Term Business Visit

A visit for meetings, conferences, exhibitions, or trade events. Not a work pass — no employment or salary in Singapore.

Authorised Visa Application Channel

Since individuals in India cannot file directly with ICA, applications are submitted through an authorised channel on the applicant's behalf.
