Singapore Visa for Family Trips | Group Applications Guide

Singapore Visa for Family Trips

Applying for a Singapore visa as a family — whether it's a holiday or a trip to see relatives — mostly follows the same process as an individual application, just multiplied across everyone travelling. Here's what's different in practice, and how to keep it manageable.

Applying as a Group

Family members can generally apply together, with each person submitting their own passport, photo, and required documents rather than one shared file. We coordinate this so you're not chasing separate paperwork trails for each family member — you deal with one point of contact and we handle the rest.

Children's Documents

Every child needs their own valid passport — a child cannot travel on a parent's document — and their own recent photograph meeting the required specification. See our photo requirements guide, which applies to children the same way it applies to adults.

Leisure Trip vs. Visiting Relatives

The documents that help your application differ slightly depending on the purpose:

  • Family holiday — treated as a tourist visa application: itinerary and accommodation details for the group
  • Visiting relatives or friends in Singapore — see our Family Visit Visa page for details on relationship documents and what to include from your host

Proof of Funds for a Family Application

Evidence of sufficient funds is generally assessed for the family unit rather than requiring each member to show independent means — but this can depend on individual circumstances. We advise on what works for your specific family situation.

Keeping Details Consistent

When multiple family members apply together, the most common issue is small inconsistencies across forms — a surname spelt slightly differently, mismatched travel dates between family members. We check every application in the group against each other before submission specifically to catch this.

Yes. Each child travelling needs their own valid passport and a recent photograph meeting the required specification, and is generally listed as a separate applicant even within a family group application.

Details of who you're visiting and, where useful, evidence of the relationship can support a family-visit application, alongside the standard passport, photo, and travel documents.

Not as a distinct official category — a family trip, whether for leisure or to see relatives, generally falls under the same tourist/social visit visa. See our Family Visit Visa page for details specific to visiting relatives.

It generally works best to apply together so travel dates and supporting details are consistent across everyone's applications. We help coordinate the timing for you.

Key Terms — Singapore Visa for Indians

Singapore Entry Visa

Pre-travel permission to enter Singapore. Indian passport holders generally need one before travel; it is applied for through an authorised visa application channel, not directly with ICA.

Visit Pass (e-Pass)

Granted digitally at the checkpoint when you arrive in Singapore — emailed, with no passport stamp (since 11 Mar 2022). This is different from the visa itself.

SG Arrival Card (SGAC)

A free, mandatory digital arrival and health declaration submitted online within 3 days before you arrive. It is not a visa and does not replace one.

Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA)

The Singapore government authority responsible for visa and entry decisions. Visa Expertz assists with preparation and submission only — final decisions rest with ICA.

Social Visit Pass

The official term for a tourist/social Singapore visit — covering leisure travel and visiting family or friends.

Short-Term Business Visit

A visit for meetings, conferences, exhibitions, or trade events. Not a work pass — no employment or salary in Singapore.

Authorised Visa Application Channel

Since individuals in India cannot file directly with ICA, applications are submitted through an authorised channel on the applicant's behalf.
