Singapore Medical Visit Visa
Many Indian patients travel to Singapore each year for specialist consultations, second opinions, or treatment. We know this is often a stressful time for a family, not just a paperwork exercise, so this page keeps things practical and to the point — what to prepare, and how a family member can accompany you.
This Is Not a Separate Official Category
As far as we're aware, Singapore does not operate a distinct "Medical Visa" alongside the tourist and business categories — a trip for medical consultation or treatment is generally processed under the same tourist/social visit visa framework covered on our Tourist Visa page. We've kept this page separate because the useful preparation for a medical trip is genuinely different from a holiday, and deserves its own explanation.
Documents That Help a Medical-Purpose Application
Alongside the standard passport, photograph, and completed application form, it's generally useful to include:
- A letter or appointment confirmation from the Singapore hospital or clinic, naming the patient and stating the nature of the visit
- Any referral letter from your treating doctor in India, where relevant to your case
- Evidence of funds to cover the trip and expected treatment costs
- A clear travel itinerary, including planned dates for consultation, treatment, or follow-up
We're not a medical facilitator and don't arrange hospital appointments or treatment itself — our role is limited to the visa application. For appointment bookings and treatment planning, you'll work directly with the Singapore hospital or clinic.
Accompanying Family Members
It's common, and generally acceptable, for a family member to travel with the patient — a spouse, adult child, or parent accompanying someone for treatment. Each accompanying traveller submits their own passport, photograph, and application, and it can help to note the relationship to the patient and the reason for accompanying them in the supporting documents. We help coordinate the patient's and companions' applications together so the paperwork stays consistent across the group.
Timing Matters More Than Usual
Medical trips often come with less flexibility on dates than a holiday — a confirmed hospital appointment date is hard to move. We don't promise a fixed processing timeline for any application, but if your appointment date is fixed, it's worth starting the visa process as early as possible and telling us your appointment date up front so we can prioritise accordingly. See our processing time page for general guidance on timing.
After the Visa: Visit Pass and Arrival Card
Like any visit, a visa decision isn't the final step — you'll be issued a digital Visit Pass (e-Pass) on arrival, and you'll separately need to submit the SG Arrival Card online within 3 days before arrival. If your treatment plan changes or your stay needs to extend, that's handled by ICA at the appropriate stage, not by us in advance.
If you have questions about your specific situation, our full documents checklist is a good next stop, or you can contact us directly and we'll talk through what your case needs.

Is there an official "Medical Visa" for Singapore?
Not as a separate category we're aware of — travelling to Singapore for medical consultation or treatment is generally processed under the same tourist/social visit visa framework. This page covers what's useful to prepare for a medical-purpose trip specifically.
Key Terms — Singapore Visa for Indians
Singapore Entry Visa
Pre-travel permission to enter Singapore. Indian passport holders generally need one before travel; it is applied for through an authorised visa application channel, not directly with ICA.
Visit Pass (e-Pass)
Granted digitally at the checkpoint when you arrive in Singapore — emailed, with no passport stamp (since 11 Mar 2022). This is different from the visa itself.
SG Arrival Card (SGAC)
A free, mandatory digital arrival and health declaration submitted online within 3 days before you arrive. It is not a visa and does not replace one.
Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA)
The Singapore government authority responsible for visa and entry decisions. Visa Expertz assists with preparation and submission only — final decisions rest with ICA.
Social Visit Pass
The official term for a tourist/social Singapore visit — covering leisure travel and visiting family or friends.
Short-Term Business Visit
A visit for meetings, conferences, exhibitions, or trade events. Not a work pass — no employment or salary in Singapore.
Authorised Visa Application Channel
Since individuals in India cannot file directly with ICA, applications are submitted through an authorised channel on the applicant's behalf.
